Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening can be a highly effective yet very simple way to whiten teeth without removing any of the tooth surface.

Tooth colour varies, some teeth have a yellowish tinge whilst other teeth maybe slightly grey, though very few are actually ‘white’. As we become older, teeth may become more yellow and become stained from food and drinks, such as tea and coffee.

Here at Botley Dental Practice in Oxford we offer 2 different types of teeth whitening procedures; a tray whitening home system and Evolution.

Tray Whitening System

An impression will be taken and sent to a cosmetic laboratory for gum shields to be constructed
The gums shields are worn with a gel every night, at home, for 5-10 nights until the desired whiteness is achieved
If, after a few years, your teeth become stained/discoloured, the same appliances can be used to undertake further whitening

Evolution

Works by increasing the tooth's permeability to oxygen which breaks down stain molecules
A combination treatment meaning that there is a 2 week home treatment followed by a 1 hour visit to the dentist
Effective in difficult cases of discolouration
