Botley Dental Practice and the Team

The surgery was established in 1972 and since then has grown to a busy, vibrant, patient centred practice with a gentle caring team. It has been highly recommended by organisations and was the most recommended dental practice in oxford in 2018.

Welcome to Botley Dental Practice, Oxford

The practice has 3 surgeries with 4 dentists, 2 hygienists, 4 dental care professionals and 2 receptionists, and we are very proud of our team.

We have a loyal patient base, with some who started seeing us as young children and who are now having children of their own! At Botley Dental Practice, we like to treat our patients as individuals and create trust in each other. We understand that attending the dentist is not the highlight of the week and for many it can be the most stressful part of the day.

We try to make the visit as enjoyable as possible and endeavour to have enough time booked out to chat socially as much or as little as the patient desires. It is helpful to us, as dentists, to have as much information about you as a person to understand your needs. We like to hear about the imminent retirement, the new addition to the family or the promotion at work and maybe the things that are not so happy. We believe all these things stand us apart from other practices and that is why we have loyal patients and why they recommend us to their friends.

Most of our new patients are via personal recommendation. Please see for yourselves the lovely testimonials given to us throughout the years within this website.

If you are looking for a gentle dentist who really cares about you as a person and not just as a row of teeth then please come and visit us.

What to expect on the first appointment.

One of our 4 dentists will take a comprehensive medical history and ask about any relevant dental history. We will ask you any particular concerns about your teeth and whether you dislike anything about them. We will then do a full check of the soft tissues, teeth and gums, including an oral cancer screening. This will be charted and stored on our digital database. X-rays may be taken if clinically necessary. From this initial assessment, a full treatment plan will be ascertained. There will be a discussion about oral hygiene and diet if necessary. The treatment needed will be shown to you with our intra-oral camera, digital x-rays and options will be discussed. A print out of the treatment plan will be given to you at the end of the examination with all the fees clearly marked. It is our policy that each patient sees the same dentist each time they visit the practice wherever possible.

All patients are seen at the practice privately.  An initial consultation/examination with one of our dentists’ costs £44 and scaling £46 (total £90). New patients are likely to have two small digital x-rays which are £22 each and are then unlikely to be retaken for at least two years after. Any recent x-rays from a previous dentist can be emailed to us. If you would like a separate hygienist appointment (£75/£160) please advise reception and we can book this with your examination.

As well as routine treatment, we now provide teeth whitening, implants, anti-snoring devices and orthodontics (teeth straightening). For a full price list please visit our website or pick up a copy our practice brochure in reception or by our front door.
